KING ARTHUR
From Geoffrey of Monmouth. It was one of the major figures in the development of British history and the popularity for the tales of King Arthur. The auther is best known for his chronicle of 1136, wich includes accounts of Arthur's father Uther Pendragon, wizard Merlin, and sword Caliburnus (named as Excalibur in some manuscripts of Wace).WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S PLAYS
His career changed the Tudor and Stuart dynasties and encompassed English history and the emerging imperial idea of the 17th century. He widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language, wrote over 35 plays of tragedy, comedy and history. He belonged to the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras. His most famous plays are: Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Othelo, El sueño de una noche de verano, Macbeth, King Lear, etc.
THE CASTLE OF OTRANTO
It´s a novel written by Horace Walpole´s in 1764. It invented the Gothic fiction genre, that combines elements of horror and romance. This novel is by extension the forerunner to such authors as Charles Robert Maturin, Ann Radcliffe, Edgar Allan Poe, etc.
JANE AUSTEN
She wrote highly polished novels about the life seen from a woman's point of view, and wryly focused on practical social issues, especially marriage and money. Austen's Pride and Prejudice, is often considered the epitome of the romance genre. Some of her best works are: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, Emma, etc.
